Wedding Photographer France - Dordogne & the South West of France

I shot my first wedding in the Dordogne in 2012 and have been lucky enough to have gone back every year since to shoot weddings in France. I've shot all over France, although I seem to keep returning to the Dordogne! I can easily say that shooting weddings in France is the highlight of my working year, so drop me a line via my contact form if you're planning a wedding in France. Read on for more info about the weddings I've shot in France and to see the pictures from some of my favourites.

“WOW!!!!! We have been looking for hours! I need to start again at the beginning to take it all in properly. But just a quick note to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The are amazing!!!! We have opened our last bottle of wedding champagne which we had saved and chilled ready, especially for this moment and have been in tears of joy and fits of laughter all evening. Words can’t describe how incredible it is to be taken back to that beautiful, wonderful day. Every image is a work of art – thank you thank you thank you!”

Vive la France!

There is something special about weddings in France, from the stunning sunsets on summer evenings to the relaxed vibe that French venues specialise in, to the convivial, joyful atmosphere that being abroad with family and friends brings to the party.

In the last few years, I’ve been lucky enough to shoot weddings all over France and I can happily say they are the highlight of my working year. I travelled to France a lot during school and university but somehow managed to ignore it for most of my adult life! That was until I was booked for Kelly & Sam’s wedding at Chateau de la Bourlie in the Dordogne in 2012 and I haven’t looked back. I now travel regularly to France for weddings and have gained a lot of experience shooting at a variety of venues in all conditions, including one of the hottest days on record in France!

Photography & videography

Planning a wedding in France can be a challenge so here's something to make the process that bit easier!  I'm really thrilled to announce that I'm teaming up with Lara Elliott to offer a photography and videography package for weddings in France.

We first worked together at a wedding at Chateau d'Urval in the Dordogne and it quickly became obvious that our approach to shooting a wedding was very similar. Both relaxed and unobtrusive, but focussed on capturing moments in a natural documentary way.

We work together as a team and our styles complement each other well, with an emphasis on capturing moments as naturally and creatively as we can. No cheesy set ups or telling people what to do!  Lara has her own distinctive documentary style of shooting a wedding, and our styles combine to make a complete package.

1. Is your approach to shooting a wedding in France different from the UK?
It's basically the same, but with a few tweaks. I always arrive the day before the wedding to make sure I'm there in good time but also so that I can come to the venue and have a good look around. It's also a good opportunity to say hello and run through the final plan for the day.

2. Does sunlight effect the photography?
I've shot on many bright summer's days in France, inculding one of the hottest days on record! It makes no difference to me, I just have to be mindful of how I use the light in my photos, but it's something I've done many times. My main recommendation is to try and allocate a slot for couple pictures in the golden hour about an hour before sunset. It makes all the difference to the pictures!

3. Do you charge for travel and accommodation?
Travel and accommodation are included in my fee, please request a brochure for full details.
