WEDDINGS IN FRANCE

Wedding Photographer France - Dordogne & the South West of France

I shot my first wedding in the Dordogne in 2012 and have been lucky enough to have gone back every year since to shoot weddings in France. I've shot all over France, although I seem to keep returning to the Dordogne! I can easily say that shooting weddings in France is the highlight of my working year, so drop me a line via my contact form if you're planning a wedding in France. Read on for more info about the weddings I've shot in France and to see the pictures from some of my favourites.

Helaina & Dan – Chateau La Durantie

“WOW!!!!! We have been looking for hours! I need to start again at the beginning to take it all in properly. But just a quick note to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The are amazing!!!! We have opened our last bottle of wedding champagne which we had saved and chilled ready, especially for this moment and have been in tears of joy and fits of laughter all evening. Words can’t describe how incredible it is to be taken back to that beautiful, wonderful day. Every image is a work of art – thank you thank you thank you!”

Vive la France!

There is something special about weddings in France, from the stunning sunsets on summer evenings to the relaxed vibe that French venues specialise in, to the convivial, joyful atmosphere that being abroad with family and friends brings to the party.

In the last few years, I’ve been lucky enough to shoot weddings all over France and I can happily say they are the highlight of my working year. I travelled to France a lot during school and university but somehow managed to ignore it for most of my adult life! That was until I was booked for Kelly & Sam’s wedding at Chateau de la Bourlie in the Dordogne in 2012 and I haven’t looked back. I now travel regularly to France for weddings and have gained a lot of experience shooting at a variety of venues in all conditions, including one of the hottest days on record in France!

Keep it simple!

Planning a wedding in France can be a challenge so here's something to make the process a bit easier!  I usually offer one simple all day photography package for weddings in France. Coverage is from getting ready through to the party in the evening, with everything in between! If both parties are getting ready in the same venue I'm usually able to photograph both, with a bit of planning and coordination!

I find that this works for most couples as they want to get the most from their photography in a special location. I sometimes also shoot welcome drinks the evening beore or a quick couple session at the venue around golden hour. This can be great for getting to know guests before the day and also if you have any nerves about being photographed.

Contact me to find out more about my photography packages. If your requirements are different, I'll tailor a package to suit you.

FAQs

1. Is your approach to shooting a wedding in France different from the UK?
It's basically the same, but with a few tweaks. I always arrive the day before the wedding to make sure I'm there in good time but also so that I can come to the venue and have a good look around. It's also a good opportunity to say hello and run through the final plan for the day.

2. Does sunlight effect the photography?
I've shot on many bright summer's days in France, inculding one of the hottest days on record! It makes no difference to me, I just have to be mindful of how I use the light in my photos, but it's something I've done many times. My main recommendation is to try and allocate a slot for couple pictures in the golden hour about an hour before sunset. It makes all the difference to the pictures!

3. Do you charge for travel and accommodation?
I ask for a contribution towards travel and acccommodation. This will depend on the location of the wedding and also the time of year. I'll provide a quote once I get all the details, but I try to keep it as low as possible.
