Laura & Roy’s Greenwich Park and One Friendly Place wedding

Greenwich park is my oasis in London, it’s my local park and I’ve spent hours there in the past walking the dog and now it’s where I go to recharge with my little boy as he dreams about sledging down the hills in winter. I’ve walked past the bandstand more times than I can remember but didn’t realise it was used for weddings until Laura and Roy got in touch with me about their wedding which was to be a humanist ceremony on the bandstand. The prospect was made all the more exciting for me as it was an October wedding when the park looks it’s stunning autumn best. So that was pretty cool, but then they told me that the reception and party was taking place at One Friendly Place in Deptford which is a converted spice wharehouse space described on their website as a rockstar’s pad. It has a similar feel to another favourite venue, MC Motors. All in all sounded like my perfect wedding!

Great venues and autumn sunshine are obviously great additions to any wedding but of course it’s the people who matter and from the moment I met Laura and Roy a year before their wedding, I was looking forward to their big day. They’re two of the kindest, most relaxed people I’ve been lucky enough to work for and their wedding reflected that in every way. I always feel very privileged and humbled to be asked to document such special occasions and Laura and Roy made it a pleasure from start to finish. Thanks for letting me be a part of your Greenwich park and One Friendly Place wedding! Thanks also to my wing-woman Rachel Manns for second shooting and for not eating all of my dinner.

  • Simon Wainwright - Wow man you really do get some great weddings, congrats, the ceremony was great, cool that they managed to have a countryside/city wedding all in one. Looked like a bit of a tricky reception to shoot but you found the light in all of the right places. That BW of the first dance is perfection.March 14, 2018 – 1:52 pmReplyCancel
