Mekalie & Nick’s wedding in Sarlat-la-Canéda – Dordogne wedding photographer

Dordogne-wedding-photographerMekalie and Nick fell in love with Sarlat-la-Canéda while travelling through Europe from Australia a couple of years ago. It’s easy to see why, it’s a perfectly preserved 14th century medieval town in the Périgord region of the Dordogne which time seems to have passed by. They also fell in love with the region’s food and wine so choosing Restaurant La Meynardie with it’s Michelin star chef was a great choice. Planning a wedding from 12,000 miles away wasn’t easy, but I can safely say that their friends and family who made the long journey from Australia had an absolute blast, despite a couple of dance floor injuries. Destination weddings usually have a special atmosphere and because everyone had travelled so far it was only going to go one way! Mekalie and Nick radiate positive energy in abundance and yet again I feel honoured to have been asked to be a part of an amazing day. I’d like to think I’ve made two new friends, rather than just being the photographer for the day.

Some kind words that Mekalie and Nick wrote after the wedding:

“We are devouring every picture you took – thank you so much for capturing the day … it means so much to us to have these as most of the day is a complete blur to us thanks to the huge amount of french wine!

We just want to say again how wonderful it was having you on the wedding day in Sarlat , not only did you make everything super easy (with 2 camera shy people) but the pictures of the amazing surrounds, friends and family are exactly what we wanted. Thanks for everything, you’ve been so fantastic!”
