Although I still have several weddings left to photograph this year it feels like things are slowing down a bit and I’ve been reflecting on some of the photographic adventures I’ve had this year. Photography has taken me to some amazing countries and locations and one of the highlights this year was photographing Marissa & Carlos’s wedding at Villa Dievole near Siena in Tuscany. I’d been to Tuscany once before as a tourist in the autumn to the walled medieval town of San Gimignano. It isn’t far from Villa Dievole, so the landscape looked familiar, despite the fact it was the height of summer this time. Villa Dievole itself is a working vineyard which produces chianti and olive oil and is open to the public for wine tasting.
Marissa and Carlos met in Florence and chose Dievole as the perfect backdrop for their love of Italy. It’s a stunning location set in the Tuscan hills, surrounded by cypress trees and olive groves and they made the most of it by having the ceremony and dinner in the stunning grounds at Dievole. I’m always honoured when couples chose me to photograph their destination wedding and give me the opportunity to travel to such special places.
