Diana & Max [Helsinki wedding photographer]

Finland. The land where the sun never sets.

Well, not quite. But when Diana and Max contacted me about their wedding in Helsinki I got a bit excited. If the weather’s good (it was amazing) you’re guaranteed blue skies and daylight until around 10 at night and if you happen to party late enough into the morning you’ll be rewarded with sunrise around 3am. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist, or David Bailey, to work out that as a photographer that’s a pretty sweet deal.

This was my first destination wedding and at first I was a bit daunted by the idea of flying somewhere I’d never been before for a wedding. But at the beginning of the year I set myself a few goals, and this was one of them, although I still didn’t know if I’d enjoy the experience. Arriving in Helsinki and seeing everything with new eyes was so exciting as a photographer. You see everything for the first time without the familiarity of where you live and it’s such a buzz.

Of course a wedding in Helsinki or Timbuktu is nothing without the people, and Diana & Max were so welcoming by the end of it I felt like one of the family.

I loved every minute of it.
