Larissa & Charlie’s Chateau de Lacoste wedding

Larissa and Charlie’s Chateau de Lacoste wedding was the first time I’ve been to this fabulous eighteenth century chateau at the top of the Dordogne valley in the Périgord noir region. Situated at the top of the valley, it has magnificent views over the Dordogne with the medieval chateau of Beynac et Cazenac visible with the Dordogne river winding its way throughout the whole scene. It makes a truly magnificent backdrop for a wedding, especially when hot air balloons rise up unannounced from the bottom of the valley high up into the sky around sunset. If that wasn’t enough of a wow factor for the guests, then the fireworks after dark certainly were.

When Larissa and Charlie got in touch with me about their Chateau de Lacoste wedding, I knew I was going to enjoy my time with them. I was lucky enough to also cover the Friday night drinks before the wedding which is a great way to get to know people ahead of the wedding and build a relationship which has a positive effect on how people react to having a photographer around.

Not that you really much of an excuse to get married in the Dordogne, but a Chateau de Lacoste wedding has a special quality to it. That’s partly to do with where the venue is situated and the views that it affords, and also because it is effortlessly elegant without being formal or stuffy. Charlie grew up in the Dordogne so getting married in France had a special resonance for him and his family. Larissa’s family flew over from Canada which made this an international gathering that was always sure to result in a fabulous wedding party.

I am always honoured to be asked to spend time with couples and their friends and families at weddings and the two days that I spent at Larissa and Charlie’s Chateau de Lacoste wedding will live long in my memory. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly that it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of. And a special shout out to Lou at Handmade events for planning the day with such expertise, making sure that the day flowed from one part to the next seamlessly.

If you’re planning a Chateau de Lacoste wedding, I’d love to hear from you. Drop me a line via my contact form and we can go from there. And to see more of the weddings I’ve shot in France, check out my page dedicated to French weddings.
